“Operation Bertram” was a deception campaign by the British in North Africa in 1942 prior to the second battle of El Alamein. Bertram was intended to give the appearance of units where none existed and to conceal armour, artillery and material. Dummy tanks and guns were made mainly of local materials including calico and palm-frond hurdles. Real tanks were disguised as trucks, using light “Sunshield” canopies. Field guns and their limbers were also disguised as trucks, their real wheels visible, under a simple box-shaped canopy to give the shape of a truck.
While there are no rules for 'sunshield' canopies in BA mojobob.hoochyman has produced an stl file for the chassis of a M3 Grant (although it also be used for a Sherman). This is a fun way to give your army a unique look for display or even until you open fire.
The stl is 1:100 (15mm) but has been simplified for durability and ease of printing and should scale to 28mm.
